Important Catholic School Parents Forum

Please attend the Catholic School Parents Forum on January 29, 2009 at 7pm at Archbishop Stepinac High School. Governor Paterson's proposed budget slashed funding to Catholic Schools. The Governor wants to cut mandated services (attendance taking) and expenses for test prep, test taking, and data collection. St. Patrick's school would lose $75,000 in state aid. This equals the salary of 1.5 teachers. What's next? Transportation!

He proposes cuts to our Catholic schools and increases to public schools. The state currently spends $22,662 per pupil. At St. Patrick's the cost is $6,000 per pupil. Non-public schools educate 20% of students in New York State -- but receive less than 1% of the aid. New York's tuition-paying families save the tax payers eight billion dollars a year. St. Patrick's school families save our surrounding school district seven million dollars.

All of our area legislators have been invited to attend this forum.

We are all struggling to meet tuition payments and pay our local school taxes. This forum gives us an opportunity to let our state representatives know how we feel about these cuts. We need as many families as possible to attend this event. We are also looking for a volunteer to represent our school and speak at the forum.

Computer Lab Re-Booted

The new computer lab is up and running! We will soon be receiving updated licensed software through a software and library materials grant from Yorktown School District. Thank you to all who made this possible!

Market Day Fundraiser Scheduled

St. Pat's second and final Market Day Fundraiser for this school year will begin on March 2, 2009 with a delivery date of April 1st at 5:30pm, just in time for the Easter holidays. This has been a great source of income for the school, and we hope that you will continue to support it as you have in the past and enjoy all the delicious, easy selections offered.
